The collection consists of papers of the Jenkins and Bass families of Troup County, Georgia from 1861-ca. 1900. The papers include a scrapbook (ca. 1895) of photographs of Bass family members and the Southern Female College (LaGrange, Ga.) and a diary (June 1861 - March 1862) of Cyrus F. Jenkins. Jenkins' diary, written while he served with Company B of the 13th Georgia Infantry Regiment during the Civil War, describes camp life and marches and skirmishes in western Virginia and along the Georgia coast.
